Andrew Warhola born in Pittsburgh on August 6, to Julia and Andrej Warhola, Carpatho-Rusyn Immigrants from Mikova, in the Medzilaborce region of the Slovak republic, the former Czechoslovakia. He had two older brothers, Paul, born in 1922, and John, born in 1925. Andrej Warhola was a construction worker. Julia Warhola made flowers from tin cans and colour paper, and painted eggs ind the folk-art tradition of Slovakia. The family regulary attend St.John Chrysostom Byzantine Catholic Church a 506 Saline Avenue.

1936
Began collecting comic books.

1942
Signed a portrait he painted of his friend Nick Kish with name A. Warhol. Graduated from Holmes Elementary and entered Schenley High School White at Schenely. His father, Andrej Warhola, died.

1945
Graduated from Scenely High School. Admited to Carnegie Institute of Technologie (now Carnegir Mellon University) and enrolled in the Department of Painting and design. He studied with artists Balcomb Greene, Rorbert Lepper, Samuel Rosenberg and Howard Worner.

1948
Warhol´s painting "I like Dance" and his print "Dance in Black and White" included in the annual exhibition of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh.

1949
Moved to New York. Began work as a commercial artist. Trought the 1950s and into the early 1960s, Warhol contributed illustrations to a great of commercial project.

1951
Troughout the 1950s, Warhol received numerous awards from the Art Directors Club and the American Institute of Graphic Arts.

1952
His first solo exhibitions "Fifteen Drawings Based on the Writings of Truman Capote", held at the Hugo Gallery, New York (June 16 - July 3). Julia Warhola moved to New York to live with her son and continued to live with him until 1971. They shared their home with numerous cats.

1954
Exhibited in both group and solo shows at the Loft Gallery, New York.

1956
A Warhol drawing of a shoe included in the exhibition "Recent Drawings U.S.A." at The Museum of Modern Art, New York (April 25 - August 5).

1960
Painted his first works based on comics and advertisements, enlarging and transferring onto his canvases.

1962
Shortly after starting to use hand-cut silkscreens to reproduce his own drawings of dollar bills, Warhol turned to the photo-silkscreen technique, which became one his primary methods of production. Began his "Marilyn" paintings.

1963
Established a studio in a vacant firehouse, formerly Hook and Ladder Company 13 on East 87th Street. Later in the years, moved his studio to 231 East Street. This space, which became know as the Factory, was painted silver and covered with silver foil by Billy Name (Billy Linich), who moved in. Filed with Warhol´s art, music, and constant activity, it attracted artists, college student, celebrities, New York lowlife, and photographers, who documented the scene. The poet Gerard Malanga became Warhol´s studio assistant. He appeared in Warhol´s films and other productions.

1964
Made "Self-portrait" painting based on photobooth photographs.

1966
Began his collaboration with the rock group the Velvet Underground. Warhol had first heard the Velvet Underground perform at the Café Bizzare in New York.

1967
Met Frederick W.Hughes. Hughes became a close associate and Warhol´s exclusive agent and business manager.

1969
The first issue of "Interview" magazin published in the fall. It began as a "monthly film journal". Vincent Fremont began to work for Warhol. HE became a close associate, and eventually becoming his executive manager.

1972
Began "Mao" painting, drawings, and prints. "Maos" exhibited at the Musée Galliera, Paris (1974, February 23, March 18).

1975
"The Philosophy of Andy Warhol (From A to B and Back again)" published by Harcourt Brace Jovanovich. Made "Ladies and Gentleman" paintings, drawings, and prints.

1976
Made "Skull" and "Hammer and Sickle" paintings.

1980
During visit to Rome, Warhol and Fred Hughes had an audience with Pope John Paul II. Jay Shriver became Warhol´s studio assistant. From 1980-82, developed "Andy Warhol´s TV".

1983
Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Francesco Clemente began collaborating on painting. Warhol and Basquiat, who were close friends and made portraits of each other, worker together for a numbers of years.

1985
Made "Absolut Vodka" paintings. "Andy Warhol´s Fifteen Minutes" aired on MTV from 1982-1987.

1986
Made "Last Supper" and "Camouflage" paintings.

1987
After suffering for years from medical problems, admitted to New York Hospital for gallbladder surgery. The operation was successful, but complications during recovery caused Warhol´s death the following day, February 22.
